Occupational Therapy

Occupational therapy is treatment to help people live as independently as possible. Occupational therapists work with people of all ages who, because of illness, injury, developmental delays, or psychological problems, need assistance in learning skills to help them lead independent, productive, and satisfying lives. Occupational therapists use work, self-care, and recreational activities to increase independent function.

Medicomp Occupational Therapists are fully proficient in the treatment of hand and upper extremity pathologies, from the chronic to the acute. Our therapists design each treatment based on the physician’s diagnosis and the specific needs of the patient. The most common conditions treated include, fractures, carpal tunnel syndrome, arthritis, tendon injuries, peripheral nerve injuries, crush injuries and repetitive motion disorder. The scope of hand/occupational therapy services offered include: range of motion exercises, work hardening, work simulation, strengthening, dexterity training, wound and scar management, edema control, and pain control.
